Episode 5: Wind Power in China

China’s appetite for energy is growing just as quickly as its economy. Currently, 70% of primary energy in China comes from coal, creating large amounts of air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Over the next ten years, China will see a growing portion of their energy come from renewable sources, due to an ambitious national policy. In this episode, China’s Green Beat visits a Beijing wind farm and investigates what role the United Nations’ clean development mechanism has played in the development of wind energy in China, which has been growing at 30% per year.

    Greetings China,

I have viewed almost all the Green Beat video clips. In my opinion more could have been done.

The American brother in your series, can bring in more of the American technology like turning rubbish, agriculture by products, human & animal waste, used plastics, used tyres (millions of vehicle in China), algae, desert heat, municipal vegetation trimmings (like UK) back into liquid fuel.

Most of the American documentary have all these. I live in an oil producing country, Malaysia. Our oil production will peak very soon & will become importers.

If China could lead the way in the Asian region, may be in this region can have a more affordable alternative energy technology.

Congratulations again on a good start at renewable energy documentaries from China. Hope to see more of it in Asia
